The 405 Aired Feb 18th, 2026

OK Solberg:

I wanna get and welcome you out of The 405 Coffee Break. It's cold out there, guys. Button up your coat. Get your cup of coffee, hot steamy mug of cocoa, glass iced tea, whatever you want. Let's see what's happening.

OK Solberg:

Spring wheat, Mick, are you listening? I called Chandel myself at 11:13AM this morning. Spring wheat 14 Pro $5.36. 550lb steer calf a range, $4.87 to $4.95. Butcher Hog in Iowa 61ยข a pound, and a 100lb fat lamb in Billings $2.72 a pound. But guys there's more, much more.

OK Solberg:

Okay. Okay. Today, it's gonna be cars combined with music. And I'm not talking just any cars or just any music. I am, of course, talking about cars and music from the 1960's and 1970's. And I'll get to that in just a moment. But 1st, our bible verse. And as I'm pulling it up, you dream up some cars and some music from the 60's and 70's that I might well mention. Alright? You think about that. I'm gonna get us a bible verse. Understand this. In bible times, there were no cars, but there sure was music and song.

OK Solberg:

So here's Miriam singing in Exodus 15:21 And Miriam sang to them, sing to the Lord for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and rider he has thrown into the sea. Now Miriam was the older sister of Moses and Aaron, just so you know.

OK Solberg:

Now you've been thinking about cars and music from the 60's and 70's? Was sugar sugar one of the songs you hope for? Well, listen now. I'm gonna combine a car with a song.

OK Solberg:

And #1 The Rolling Stones, I can't get no Satisfaction. Couple it with a 1965 Pontiac GTO. I can't get no satisfaction until I bought my GTO, the 389 cubic inch engine had revised cylinder heads and high rise intake manifolds for improved airflow. The base 4 barrel engine produced 335 horsepower while the tri powered engine generated 360 horsepower.

OK Solberg:

Alright. Our next song from the next year, 1966 is good vibrations by the Beach Boys. It was a number 1 song that year, and we're gonna couple it with the 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396. I'm picking up good vibrations. She's given me excitations, big block torque, and harmonized horsepower. The Chevelle SS delivers every time the secondary is open.

OK Solberg:

Number 3 next year, from 1967 is The Doors with Light my Fire. And we couple it with the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS. Come on baby, Light my Fire. 1st generation Camaro, small block fury. Drop that clutch and you've lit more than a spark. Try to set the Night on Fire.

OK Solberg:

Next in line is the Beatles from 1968 and their #1 hit, Hey Jude. Coupled with sit down Keith Pankratz, your knees are gonna get weak. Hey Jude, coupled with a 1968 Dodge Charger RT, take a sad song and make it better. Well, let me tell you, you'd make it better in a 1968 Dodge Charger RT. Long hood, hidden headlights. The Charger turns heartbreak into horsepower.

OK Solberg:

Now all you Credence fans out there, this one's for you. Credence Clearwater Revival singing Proud Mary, #1 song from 1969. Nope #2 they never made #1 but it was up there. And we're gonna couple it with the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach one. Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river. That 428 Cobra Jet rolls like the Mississippi River steady, loud, unstoppable.

OK Solberg:

And next for my friend who knows his name, here comes a 1970's song by Simon and Garfunkel singing Bridge over Troubled Waters. And who we gonna couple it with? A 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird. Oh, coulda, woulda, shoulda. Like a Bridge over Troubled Water. The Roadrunner Superbird built for NASCAR dominance. That towering wing smooths out troubled air just like the troubled waters, and it would do it at a 140 miles an hour.

OK Solberg:

And finally, and I wish I could do this all night long, but finally from 1971, we have the #1 hit by Rod Stewart titled Maggie Mae. And I'll couple it with, guess what, the 1971 Plymouth Cuda 446 pack. Wake up, Maggie. I think I got something to say to you. And what I wanna say is the Plymouth Cuda 440 would set you back in the seat and give any cop car anywhere a run for his money.

OK Solberg:

Lucky 7, seven great #1 or #2 songs coupled with 7 great cars from a day gone by. And any generation can claim they grew up in the best generation, but we all know the real truth. We all know when you talk about the greatest cars and the greatest music ever, we was born in that generation.

OK Solberg:

So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
