The 405 Aired Feb 6th, 2026

OK Solberg:

I wanna again welcome you to The 04:05 Coffee Break. Guys, the weekend's almost coming. Get you cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottled water. Let's see what's happening.

OK Solberg:

Spring Wheat $5.85 a bushel, 550lb steer calf $5.04 a pound on the top end, a butcher hog in Iowa 67ยข a pound, and a 100lb fat lamb in Billings $2.47 a pound. But guys, there's more, much more.

OK Solberg:

Okay. Okay. I told you on Wednesday, but I'm gonna tell you again. The Super Bowl happens on Sunday. And by the way, if you care to know, it'll be the 48th Super Bowl in a row that I've watched together with my friend Stan Green. On Sunday, it'll be Super Bowl number 60 and Stan and I have watched 48 of them in a row.

OK Solberg:

So today I'll share a bible verse and then give you some more fun Super Bowl facts. This is a verse about traditions. Stan and I have a tradition as well as his family and my family.

OK Solberg:

Here's a verse about traditions. And I quote, he said to them, full well do you reject the commandment of God that you may keep your tradition. Mark chapter 7:9

OK Solberg:

Well, guys, I don't wanna break God's commandments, but I still think I can keep our tradition of watching the Super Bowl together. Now listen.

OK Solberg:

Here are some Super Bowl facts that are a 100% real and still kinda mess with your head. The Lombardi trophy, the Vince Lombardi trophy is not a traveling trophy. The winning team keeps it forever. Every year, the NFL makes a brand new one from scratch, and it's made by Tiffany and Company. Yes, the jewelry store.

OK Solberg:

And it takes about 4 months to build and it's solid sterling silver about 22 inches tall and weighs roughly 7 pounds. Wow. With today's price of silver that would equate to $8025.00 worth of silver in the trophy. Now do you realize the 1st Super Bowl tickets were sold at a price of $6 apiece? Even adjusted for inflation, that's still under a $100 today.

OK Solberg:

That was a good deal. And here's the kicker. Super Bowl number one in 1967 did not sell out. There were thousands of empty seats, 30,000 to be exact. No team played the Super Bowl in its home stadium until the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did it in 2021.

OK Solberg:

So that took 55 Super Bowls till it happened. Then the very next year, the Rams did it too. After a century of never, it happened twice in a row. Now the Roman numerals you see on Super Bowls were skipped exactly once. That's it.

OK Solberg:

Super Bowl 50 was not called Super Bowl L as in the letter love, league, longing. The league thought it looked weird and went with the number instead. But the very next year they went right back to Roman numerals like nothing happened. The coin toss actually has a weird history. Teams that won the opening coin toss lost the game far more often than they won for decades.

OK Solberg:

It got so lopsided that coaches openly said they didn't care about winning it. This is interesting. I did not know this. The halftime performers are not paid a performance fee. $0.

OK Solberg:

That's what they get. Now the NFL covers production costs, but the artists get paid in exposure and it works. Album sales usually spike immediately after the Super Bowl. Super Bowl confetti is premade for both teams. We kinda knew that.

OK Solberg:

It's good to hear the hard facts. Somewhere in the stadium, there are bins of both colors waiting. The wrong color confetti has absolutely been spotted on the field after games before staff rushes out to clean it up. Here's one. The coldest Super Bowl on record was Super Bowl 6 in New Orleans, and it was played indoors.

OK Solberg:

By the way, when the outside temperature was 39 degrees, The hottest was Super Bowl 7 in Los Angeles, California at 84 degrees. And Super Bowl number 1 back in 1967, when the 2nd half was ready to start, the TV network was still in a commercial. So officials actually had the Packers kick off again because NBC hadn't finished airing ads.

OK Solberg:

And finally, the Super Bowl wasn't always a big deal. It wasn't officially even called the Super Bowl until the 3rd one. Before that, well, it was just a game with a very very long name. Go Seahawks.

OK Solberg:

So until next time, as you go out there remember now don't be bitter.
