The 405 Aired Sept 12th, 2025

OK Solberg:

I wanna again welcome you to the 04:05 coffee break. Get you a cup of coffee, glass iced tea. You know the routine. Let's see what's happening. Spring wheat, $5.12 a bushel.

OK Solberg:

Nothing to brag about, but holding steady, not dipping below the $5 mark. A 550 pound steer calf, actually, guys, they are selling now $4.13 a pound. A butcher hog in Iowa, 60¢ a pound. And a 100lb fat lamb in Billings inching its way up $2 and 3 pennies. But, guys, there's more, much more.

OK Solberg:

Okay. Are you going to the football game tonight? Good luck, Mustangs, as you play the Conrad Cowboys. I talked about football yesterday. So today, well, it'll be different.

OK Solberg:

Today, I'll share a bunch of fun trivia. But that right after our Bible verse. Listen. The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out. Proverbs 18:15

OK Solberg:

You have a discerning heart? Let's get some knowledge. Listen to these fun trivia facts about animals, 100% honest to God, true. Number one, elephants can't jump. Despite being strong and agile in many ways, elephants are the only mammals that cannot jump.

OK Solberg:

Their legs are not built for that kind of movement. Interesting. Did you know that? Number two, an octopus has three hearts. Two hearts pump blood to the gills, and one pumps it to the rest of the body.

OK Solberg:

And when it swims, the heart that pumps to the body stops beating. Number three, some lizards can squirt blood from their eyes. Oh, it's true. Horned lizards, also called horned toads, can shoot blood from the corners of their eyes as a defense mechanism. The blood can confuse predators or taste bad to them.

OK Solberg:

Here's one. All you trivia experts, listen, it's true. Number four, a duck's quack does echo. A duck's quack does echo. There was once an Ermaden legend that it doesn't echo, but it does, and it was confirmed by acoustic experts, and you just might not notice it easily.

OK Solberg:

Number five. Listen to this one when you're thinking about putting milk out for Santa Claus. Number five. Hedgehogs are lactose intolerant. Despite the cute idea of giving them a sauce or a milk, most hedgehogs can't digest lactose properly and it can make them sick.

OK Solberg:

Number six. The mantis shrimp can punch as fast as a bullet. The mantis shrimp has a club and can strike with the speed of a 22 caliber bullet, creating a shockwave that stuns or kills prey and sometimes even cracks aquarium glass. Number seven, this is one you're gonna wanna pay attention to. Bats always turn left when exiting a cave.

OK Solberg:

When observed in mass, bats consistently turn towards the left upon exiting. Why? Don't know. Still a mystery, but it's a fact. Number eight, a snail can sleep for up to three years.

OK Solberg:

What? Yep. A snail can sleep for up to three years. Some desert snails can go into deep hibernation for years if the environment is too dry or harsh. Number nine, anybody ever heard about a cow?

OK Solberg:

A lot of lot of cows in this area. Cows have best friends and get stressed when they're separated from their friend. Studies show cows form strong social bonds, and their heart rate increases when they're away from their favorite companion. It's a true story. Number 10, the last one.

OK Solberg:

A dog's sense of smell is 10,000 to a 100,000 times better than ours. They can detect some cancers, find missing people, and even tell when you're stressed or sick just by smell. There you have it. Knowledge for another day. Go blue.

OK Solberg:

Go Mustang. So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
