OK Solberg:

I wanna again welcome you to the 405 Coffee Break. Guys, get your cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottled water, beverage of your choice. Let's see what's happening. Spring wheat, $6.13 a bushel. 550 pound steer calf, not selling much right now.

OK Solberg:

I'm gonna share with you a short term cow with a baby calf at side, will bring you $3,200 and a young mother cow with her calf at side, $4,100. And a butcher hog in Iowa will bring you 56ยข a pound, I called myself. And a 100 pound lamb in Billings right in that $2.20 a pound range. But guys, there's more, much more. Okay.

OK Solberg:

On Saturday, after I had coffee and a good meaningful visit with my two dear friends, those friends that are so helpful when it comes to building an episode here for the 405. After that, I drove off to church. And of course, in my car, I had KMMR on the radio. It was grassroots gold time, and I enjoy that program as well as all good music. That's just good stuff.

OK Solberg:

Grassroots gold. Now, I know if you're a rock and roll fan, you say I don't like country, especially old country, and if you're a young kid, you say I don't like old rock and roll and I don't like country. Not any of it. But I'd ask you to take the music challenge, I'm gonna give you a few songs from different genres and different generations, and I ask you, pursue this endeavor with an open mind. Walk into this challenge with an open mind, and hopefully you will find the thing that I have found.

OK Solberg:

There is good uplifting music from every generation and good and uplifting music from every genre. Here's the music challenge. Pull these songs, there's five of them. Write them down, get your pencil. I'll say them again at the end of the episode.

OK Solberg:

Pull these songs up on YouTube and try it for yourself. Number one is Perry Como, don't let the stars get in your eyes. Number two, Dusty Springfield, son of a preacher. Number three, it'll have to be Waylon Jennings, only daddy that'll walk the line. Listen carefully to the opening six seconds of that song, guys.

OK Solberg:

If that doesn't grab you, I'll say a little prayer on your behalf. Number four, Number four is Creedence Clearwater Revival singing sweet hitchhiker. And finally, just to show you that I too explore different genres from different generations. Number five, one republic with love runs out. Now I can hear someone say, you didn't say this group and you didn't say that group.

OK Solberg:

Let me say something for the whole world to hear. Yes, there is good music in every generation and in all genres. But back to grassroots gold on Saturday, I heard this lovely song titled dear hearts and gentle people sung by Gene Autry. You know what guys? It reminded me of Malta.

OK Solberg:

Listen, I love those dear hearts and gentle people who live in my hometown because those dear hearts and gentle people will never let you down. They read the good book from Friday to Monday, that's how the weekend goes. I've got a dream house I'll build there one day with picket fence and rambling rows. I feel so welcome each time that I return that my happy heart keeps laughing like a clown. I love the dear hearts and gentle people who live and love in my hometown.

OK Solberg:

Here's a place I'd like to be and the folks I'd like to see where your friendly neighbors smile and say hello. It's a pleasure and a treat to meander down the street, and that's why I want the whole wide world to know, I love you dear hearts and gentle people who live in my hometown, because those dear hearts and gentle people will never ever let you down. It's a good song. It has a Mayberry kind of feel to it, doesn't it? Can't you hear Aunt Bee in the background?

OK Solberg:

It has a Malta kinda feel to it. So there you have it. Listen to Gene Autry singing, dear hearts and gentle people. And don't forget the five song challenge. Listen to these five songs and find like me that there's good music from every generation and in every genre.

OK Solberg:

Number one, Perry Como, don't let the stars get in your eyes. Number two, Dusty Springfield, son of a preacher. Number three, Waylon Jennings, only daddy that'll walk the line. Number four, Credence Clearwater revival, sometimes known by CCR singing sweet hitchhiker. And finally, number five, one republic with love runs out.

OK Solberg:

I'll close with a bible verse. Listen. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Sing to the Lord with grateful praise. Make music to our God on the harp.

OK Solberg:

Psalms 147 verses 3 and verse 7 Oh yes, music has a healing quality, music is like magic. So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
