OK Solberg:

I wanna again welcome you to the 04:05 Coffee Break. Jordan, that sounds just like it's recorded, doesn't it? But I'm in here live. Hey. Sometimes we think, oh, man.

OK Solberg:

Something went wrong and it's gonna turn out worse. They couldn't record me, so I come down live. But that means Jordan's gonna play the song I'm highlighting after this episode. We get two for the price of one. Alright.

OK Solberg:

I wanna again welcome you to the 04:05 coffee break. Get a shot of Jack or a can of bush or maybe just a glass of milk from the fridge, and let's see what's happening out there. Spring wheat, $5.63 a bushel. 550 pounds steer calf, five fifty, three 90 two. Some of them lighter are selling over $4.

OK Solberg:

I kid you not. butcher hog in Omaha going down 52ยข a pound, and a hundred pound fat lamb in Billings at $2.15 a pound. But guys, there's more, much more. Okay. Okay.

OK Solberg:

A few housecleaning chores to get out of the way before the main theme. Number one, our bible verse. We gotta have a bible verse, Job five ten. He provides rain for the earth, he sends water on the countryside. Job five ten.

OK Solberg:

Oh, yes. We are thankful for the rain. It's really gonna make that grass green up. Like my dad used to say, Viv, you listening, Evie? Let her rip.

OK Solberg:

House cleaning chore number two. I am particularly fond of the three twenty seven engine, and you're probably wondering why, so let me just tell you this, the short stroke design allowed for quick revving and it was used in everything from family sedans to the Camaro SS and even the Corvette. Our little o three twenty seven holds a nostalgic and iconic place in American automotive history and it's known for being a sleeper engine, Small in displacement but big on performance. Now, well, you guys know this is an equal opportunities radio program so some might felt slighted if I didn't mention the Chrysler three eighty three with a four barrel carb in 1966, it turned some heads. Oh, yes, it did.

OK Solberg:

Especially in when installed in a Dodge Charger. But wait, you Ford lovers out there, and there are many, will be happy I mentioned one of the largest engines to be put in a factory car and that's the Lincoln four six two. Guys, it's hard to believe, but the four six two had a 4.9 o inch stroke and a 4.38 inch bore. Why don't we hear more about this engine? You gotta know there was not just the four fifty four, the four fifty five and the four sixty, there was the four sixty two.

OK Solberg:

How come we don't hear about that? Okay. Now with those items out of the way, let's look at some music from the Traveling Wilburys. It was John Demarais who introduced me to them, and it was with their hit song End of the Line that I fell in love. Evie, you pull it up.

OK Solberg:

I wrote this up in the episode, but you don't even have to pull it up. Jordan's gonna play it when we're done and you're gonna all really love it. So who were the Traveling Wilburies? Well, started with George Harrison in 1988. You remember George?

OK Solberg:

Of course, you do. He's one of the Beatles, but George recruited Jeff Lynn from the Electric Light Orchestra. And before you knew it, then included Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty, some high class singers forming an A1 group. Yep. It happened in 1988, and they have other songs including Handle with Care and She's My Baby.

OK Solberg:

They recorded two full size albums. But when you go online, don't get confused. All you'll find is volume one and volume three. They did it as a joke. There never was a volume two.

OK Solberg:

So Harrison, we know, Jeff Lynn with e l o, oh, and he they had some songs like Don't Bring Me Down, you remember that, Evil Woman, then of course, Bob Dylan who's still alive today with his nineteen sixties ballads. Roy Orbison passed away just after they recorded the first album, but you remember him from Only the Lonely and Oh Pretty Woman. None of us can forget that. And finally, Tom Petty, who sang Free Fallin' and American Girl, just to name a few. So today, your homework assignment, other than writing the paper on the greatness of the three twenty seven, the three eighty three, and the monster four sixty two, your homework assignment is to listen to the Traveling Wilburys sing end of the line, and I'm gonna make it easy for you because all you have to do is keep the radio on because Jordan's gonna play it live.

OK Solberg:

You pull it up on the on the video afterwards, and and you'll see the guys are riding on a train, playing their instruments as there but there's one rocking chair that has no person in it, just a guitar rocking back and forth, and that is in memory of Roy Orbison because he passed away before it came out on in the stores. As you pull it up, Jordan's gonna play it. So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
